Monte grew up on a farm in Illinois, and began raising his own pigs at the age of five. With his background in farming and a business degree from Augustana College, he became a consultant and started two companies that help farmers adopt better land management practices: California Ag Solutions (CAS) and Ag Solutions Network (ASN). After handing off these businesses for others to run, Monte now raises regenerative, grass-fed beef, lamb, chicken, and pork at Grateful Graze in Cambridge, Illinois. He also hosts a podcast, AgEmerge, that explores new ideas, grower insights, research, and emerging technology in the field of agriculture. Monte is also a member of the Coalition to Preserve Antibiotics's steering committee.
